The Business Accreditation Seminar has undergone a significant transformation in its format! Experienced facilitators will lead you through an immersive case study, enabling you to enhance your skills by actively exploring the accreditation standards and their practical application to a case institution.

Focusing on the 2020 AACSB accreditation standards, the seminar will provide you with the knowledge and resources to avoid common challenges in the accreditation process. Learn what is important and expected at each stage of the accreditation process through thoughtful group interactions as you explore the standards with a hands-on approach.
Please note this seminar requires pre-work before each day of the seminar. There is a total of about four hours to read and prepare for the cases used in the seminar.
Learning Objectives
- Discover the purpose and philosophy of accreditation and the AACSB guiding principles
- Review the nine 2020 AACSB Standards in depth to understand how they build on each other and assure quality at the school
- Learn the importance of quality and continuous improvement, supported by engagement, innovation and impact
- Gain an understanding of the initial and continuous improvement review processes
- Build a network of peers and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Facilitators
Ross James, University of Canterbury
Ross James is currently the Dean of Academic Governance at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand after serving as the Dean of Business at the UC Business School between 2012 and 2020 where he led the School through its initial AACSB accreditation in 2014 and reaccreditation in 2020. He has been actively involved as an AACSB volunteer mentoring multiple schools, serving on PRT teams, serving on the Initial Accreditation Committee (2019-2025), and a member of the 2026 Standards Task Force. He has also been a presenter at previous AACSB events.
Sophia Poh, AACSB International
Sophia Poh supports a portfolio of business schools across the Asia Pacific region on their journey toward AACSB accreditation. In this role, she advises institutions on accreditation standards and processes and contributes to AACSB’s regional engagement efforts by supporting training delivery, events, and knowledge sharing among member schools. Prior to joining AACSB, Sophia held roles in external audit and quality assurance at PwC, Deloitte, and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, where she focused on evaluating standards and driving continuous improvement. She is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore and a Certified Practising Accountant (Australia). Sophia holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
