Join a cohort of your peers for a seminar facilitated by globally recognized Assurance of Learning (AoL) experts. Build skills and network in interactive, workshop-style lessons focused on creating a customized AoL process for your school. Develop and refine your competency goals (learning goals), learning objectives, and rubrics through group interactions, breakout sessions, and spaced learning.

Focusing on Standard 5: Assurance of Learning of the AACSB Global Standards for Business EducationTM, the seminar covers the entire AoL process step by step to help you gain a clear understanding of assessment, competency goals (learning goals), learning objectives, data collection, and rubrics. The seminar also provides regional resources and examples for customized learning. You will practice what you learn with your peers to build a working knowledge of how to create the best AoL process for your school.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a working knowledge of the steps in the AoL process.
  • Recognize the AoL expectations based on the 2020 AACSB Accreditation Standards.
  • Understand the fundamentals of competency goals (learning goals) and learning objectives, and design effective rubrics.
  • Understand the relevance of Table 5.1 for initial accreditation and continuous improvement reviews.
  • Recognize the role of indirect measures.

Facilitators

Renee Boyoung Kim, Hanyang University

Renee is Vice President, International, at the Korea Association for Business Education Accreditation (KABEA) and Vice Dean for International Relations at Hanyang University School of Business. A professor and academic leader with extensive experience in international engagement and business education accreditation, Kim has contributed to AACSB–KABEA collaborations and supported schools through accreditation-related training and assurance of learning initiatives. Her academic work focuses on international marketing, consumer behavior, brand strategy, and cross-market studies, with research spanning topics such as brand loyalty, country-of-origin effects, consumer trust, Korean wave-related consumption, and global market dynamics.

 

Geoff Perry, AACSB International

Geoff Perry is executive vice president overseeing global membership. With senior management experience in the university sector, having served as business school dean, pro vice chancellor, and deputy vice chancellor at Auckland University of Technology—a 28,000 student, research-intensive university—he has strong strategic, financial, and people management capabilities. He has mentored, advised, and evaluated many higher education business schools across the Asia Pacific region and North America. Recently he co-chaired the Business Accreditation Task Force, which was mandated by AACSB’s board of directors to work with the association’s community to develop the 2020 business accreditation standards. Perry has a significant portfolio of peer-reviewed journal articles, commissioned reports, and presentations. He has academic and private sector experience and has worked, consulted, and researched in his home country of New Zealand as well as more broadly in the Asia Pacific region. Perry holds degrees in the arts and the humanities and has a PhD in economics with a focus on labor and international economics.

Faculty, department chairs, deans, and those working on obtaining or maintaining accreditation at their school. This seminar is suitable for individuals who are new to assurance of learning, who have recently joined an AoL committee, who are implementing an AoL plan, or who need to be familiarized with the general terminology and implementation.

Delivery

Gain actionable insights in three, three-hour live lessons with a cohort of your peers and facilitators. Pre- and post-work will help you maximize your classroom time. This course is delivered via AACSB’s Learning Portal and Zoom. You will have access to the event for 90 days from the seminar date.
