New Format!  Explore the accreditation standards through an immersive case study.

The Business Accreditation Seminar has undergone a significant transformation in its format! Experienced facilitators will lead you through an immersive case study, enabling you to enhance your skills by actively exploring the accreditation standards and their practical application to a case institution.

Focusing on the 2020 AACSB accreditation standards, the seminar will provide you with the knowledge and resources to avoid common challenges in the accreditation process. Learn what is important and expected at each stage of the accreditation process through thoughtful group interactions as you explore the standards with a hands-on approach.

Please note this seminar requires pre-work before each day of the seminar. There is a total of about four hours to read and prepare for the cases used in the seminar.

Learning Objectives

  • Discover the purpose and philosophy of accreditation and the AACSB guiding principles
  • Review the nine 2020 AACSB Standards in depth to understand how they build on each other and assure quality at the school
  • Learn the importance of quality and continuous improvement, supported by engagement, innovation and impact
  • Gain an understanding of the initial and continuous improvement review processes
  • Build a network of peers and have an opportunity to ask questions  

Facilitator

Stephanie Bryant, AACSB International

Stephanie M. Bryant is the Executive Vice President and Global Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International. She served as Dean of the College of Business at Missouri State University for 6-1/2 years and was previously the Director of the University of South Florida School of Accountancy. She received her Ph.D. and B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University and is a Louisiana CPA (inactive). Dr. Bryant specializes in accounting information systems, and previously worked for KPMG Peat Marwick. Dr. Bryant has co-authored two accounting textbooks, and over 30 academic articles and has won nine teaching awards. She served as the 2005-2006 national President of the American Accounting Association Information Systems Section. She also served as the 2006-2009 International President of Beta Alpha Psi.

 

Joyce StrawserJoyce Strawser, Seton Hall University

Joyce A. Strawser is dean of the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University, a position she has held since 2012. Strawser joined the Seton Hall faculty in 1995 and has taught courses in many of the subfields of accounting, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. As a faculty member, Strawser earned awards for her excellence in teaching and service to students. Strawser has provided advice to business schools seeking to develop learning outcomes assessment programs and has made numerous conference presentations on program outcomes assessment and business school accreditation. Strawser joined the AACSB board in 2019, and she currently serves as chair of its Initial Accreditation Committee. She is one of 16 business school deans around the world to have served on AACSB’s Business Accreditation Task Force, which was charged with reimagining business school accreditation and developing the 2020 business accreditation standards. Strawser is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma board of governors. Strawser earned a BBA in accounting from Texas A&M University and a PhD in accounting from Louisiana State University.
