Engaging the Poole Pack: A Scaffolding System for High-Impact Practice

High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are the gold standard of student engagement, yet many institutions struggle to move from offering these experiences to ensuring equitable participation and measurable growth. This session explores how the Poole College of Management developed a robust scaffolding system to track and incentivize student engagement through the Poole Packways framework.

We will demonstrate how we use data-informed programming to identify engagement gaps and guide students through a structured journey of career, scholarly, community, and global engagement. Participants will learn how to transform raw engagement data into a "scaffolded" roadmap that not only tracks participation but empowers students to reflect on and articulate their professional brand. Discover how to move beyond static reporting and create a dynamic, data-driven ecosystem that drives student retention and career readiness.

Learning Objectives

Many administrators view their platform as a collection of features, but students view it as a means to an end. Having used Suitable as both a student, and now, an administrator, I have seen firsthand how pathways goals can be achieved through various tactics. There isn’t one way for the program to be successful, but the common thread is mission and value driven programming. By using this perspective, we’ll explore the importance of a mission statement and value propositions in implementing your program at every phase. 

By the conclusion of this session, participants will be equipped to:

• Evaluate how a clearly defined mission directly informs a compelling value proposition, allowing them to translate internal goals into student-facing benefits that drive platform adoption.
• Assess the value of their program and present data-driven results to key stakeholders (students, staff/faculty, university/college)
• Develop a mission that conveys the need to allocate resources (staff, funding, space) to their programs and develop goals aligned with the mission.
