We need a different type of professor who not only focuses on research but who is also very knowledgeable about the problems in business practice. Faculty are critical in bringing business schools closer to the actual business world and helping to embed our schools in society.
To make sure we are doing research that is relevant to business and society as a whole, we need to change the way we train PhDs. We need to instill in them good research skills, provide them a greater awareness of what the real business problems are, and develop in them good teaching skills for better transmission of knowledge.
