This seminar will take place at AACSB International, Suite 100 in Tampa. This seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. on November 15 and conclude at 1:45 p.m. on November 16.

Congratulations on your new associate or assistant dean position! Are you asking yourself “Now what?” Do you have more questions than answers?

Maximize your transition to associate dean through networking with other new associate deans and exploring topics that are essential to the administrative role. Create a personal vision and action plan and learn to navigate common administrative challenges through group interactions, breakout sessions, and expert facilitation.

Learn how to motivate people, prioritize and delegate tasks, navigate politics, and deal with adversity while maintaining your and your school’s integrity and achieving balance between the needs of the dean, students, faculty, and yourself.

Through group discussions, take an in-depth look into the role and responsibilities of the associate dean. Facilitators and panelists with extensive administrative leadership experience will provide unique insights into the challenges new associate deans face as well as the resources and methods to handle them.

Facilitators

Cathy Dubois, Kent State University

Dr. Cathy DuBois is professor and associate dean for graduate and online programs in the College of Business Administration at Kent State University; she previously served as associate dean for administration. She received her PhD in human resources and industrial relations from the University of Minnesota. She has published in a variety of top journals and currently sits on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Management Inquiry. Cathy serves on the steering committee of the PRME North America Chapter. She chairs AACSB’s Responsible Management Education affinity group, and previously chaired the Associate Deans affinity group.

 

Kaustav Misra, Central Connecticut State University

Dr. Kaustav Misra is associate dean of the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), overseeing included but limited to undergraduate and graduate programs quality, schedule management, AACSB accreditation, enrollment, managing part-time budget and staffing. An award-wining scholar focusing on public economics, international economics, and family business and has published articles in top tier peer reviewed journals. He has mentored several undergraduate and graduate students’ research and his research has been supported by several grants. Dr. Misra is currently serving as a board member to multiple journal editorial review boards and non-profit organizations. Kaustav is a dynamic, strategic and visionary leader who holds an array of leadership experiences in developing academic excellence and innovation through curriculum and co-curriculum activities within academic and non-academic units. He has more than 12 years’ experience in regional and business education accreditations. Associate Dean Misra is a frequent speaker to higher education communities and contributes on a regular basis to op-eds and magazines. He is a past Family Owned Business Institute Research Scholar, received the Ruth and Ted Braun Fellowship, and joined Direct Selling Education Foundation as a fellow. Nonetheless, he is a pro-community leader dedicated to promoting diversity and developing awareness in higher education.
