Established in 2000, ICS is Japan’s first global MBA program taught entirely in English. Rooted in the pioneering spirit of Hitotsubashi University, which was founded in 1875 to educate “modern” business leaders, ICS shares a strong commitment to excellence in business education and academic research. From its early launch of English-only MBA and DBA programs, ICS has built a distinctive position in Japan, supported by rigorous research, close ties with business leaders and innovators, and a diverse international faculty and student body. Today, ICS continues to teach at the frontier of business education through its own Signature Courses.

ICS maintains a small entering class, with a student-faculty ratio of 5:1. Students belong to faculty-led seminars that emphasize discussion, collaboration, and close interaction. This environment allows students to work closely with both peers and professors, fostering strong bonds that often last a lifetime—an experience known as the “ICS Experience.”
