The 2019 Innovations That Inspire challenge invites AACSB member schools to identify how they are inspiring new approaches to research and increasing its impact. Innovations that enable the co-creation of knowledge—with practitioners and across disciplines, inside and outside the traditional bounds of business and management are encouraged. The nomination period has now ended. Highlights from the 2019 Innovations That Inspire will be announced in April 2019.
“The future calls for business schools to capitalize on academic strengths in order to grow and develop the rich space between theory and practices in ways that positively impact society."
—Leaders on Leadership, A Collective Vision for Business Education, AACSB International
Rigorous research has long been a pillar of the best business schools, supporting their efforts to provide quality education and advance theory and practice. Structures and systems across the industry were designed to advance the academic credibility of schools of business. But the needs of society and business are changing, and changing more quickly than ever before. Meanwhile, the entire higher education ecosystem, including academic publishing, is in the midst of a digital disruption. These developments are causing business schools to innovate in the way they create and disseminate knowledge. These schools are finding new and different ways to create additional value—more impact—from research for the learners, organizations, and communities they serve. This is a call for such innovations, the ones that can inspire business schools worldwide to develop a new type of research enterprise.
