Max L. Fuller is founder and current chair and CEO of U.S. Xpress and affiliated companies. He holds a degree in finance from the College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Fuller is a forward-thinking leader and innovator in a mature industry. The innovations he has developed and implemented at U.S. Xpress have been widely adopted by the transportation industry.

Although Fuller has been extremely successful in his career, he is an extraordinary humble and giving person. He has worked behind the scenes to help many young entrepreneurs in the community become successful and is always giving of his time to students at the university.

Fuller has had a profound impact on the transportation industry. U.S. Xpress was one of the first adopters to utilize satellite communications, autoshift transmissions, and anti-rollover control technology to improve safety and better meet customer needs. U.S. Xpress was the first company to introduce technology that streamlines airflow around cabs and trailers to reduce fuel consumption and improve efficiencies.

The company has received numerous recognitions and awards, including a Smithsonian Innovation Award for its green initiative to become a paperless environment—another first in the trucking industry. Because of his leadership, the company was named one of the Best Big Companies in the U.S. by Forbes magazine in 2007, and it is consistently recognized as one of the top 100 trucking companies in the U.S. In 2012 the company was named Truckload Carrier of the Year, and in that same year Logistics magazine named U.S. Xpress a Top Green Provider.

In addition to leading U.S. Xpress, Fuller is an extraordinary entrepreneur, having launched several new ventures outside the trucking industry. He is also a leader in the Chattanooga community, freely giving of his time and treasure in support of civic causes and organizations.
