Tajuddin Bin Atan

At Bursa Malaysia, an exchange holding company, Tajuddin Atan initiated a bold transformation program and developed the strategic blueprint for the exchange, comprising four strategic intents: to create a more facilitative trading environment, to facilitate more tradable alternatives, to transform the exchange into a regional marketplace with global access, and to reshape market structure and framework. The implementation of the initiatives under the transformation program coupled with the introduction of the foundations of a high-performance organization have resulted in a more dynamic, driven, and dependable integrated exchange that is Bursa Malaysia today.

Under Tajuddin’s leadership, the exchange leveraged the collaboration of the ASEAN exchanges and successfully connected the trading platforms of Bursa Malaysia with SGX and SET via the ASEAN Trading Link, bringing together more than 2,200 listed companies representing approximately 70 percent of the total market capitalization of ASEAN. During Tajuddin’s tenure, Bursa Malaysia successfully launched Bursa Trade Securities 2, well in advance of its targeted delivery date, thereby enhancing its key infrastructure, unlocking the potential of the exchange, and strengthening its position as ASEAN's multinational marketplace.

Tajuddin’s track record speaks for itself. At each of the last four organizations he helmed prior to his current leadership position (RHB Banking Group, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, Bank Simpanan Nasional, and Chase Perdana Berhad), he managed to achieve record sustainable profits during his respective tenures.

Tajuddin has become particularly adept in the areas of corporate turnaround and restructuring, business process improvement, change management, strategic transformation and planning, and exposure to regional and international multidisciplined business.

The strengths Tajuddin has developed throughout career have enabled him to exhibit the necessary leadership skills to make Bursa Malaysia an attractive and competitive exchange in the region, to ensure that Bursa Malaysia remains as a destination of choice for issuers and investors, and to make the Malaysian capital market more vibrant.
