Don Mohanlal

Don Mohanlal has been doing stellar youth development work in social spaces across the world, including the Balkans, the United States, India, China and over 110 countries. He is also a member of several advisory and directory boards for social initiatives, including the Indian School of Business, the World Bank Group advisory council of global foundation leaders, the board of trustees of AFS Intercultural Programs, and the board of directors of the AFS Foundation in Switzerland. Mohanlal is also a senior advisor to ImagineNations Group, where he supported the establishment of a national framework for youth employment and enterprise in Indonesia at the request of President Yudhoyono. He serves on the board of directors of CIRD Community Foundation, Paraguay, and has also served on the technical advisory group for adolescent health and development at the World Health Organization. He had also served as the President & CEO of the Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation, as well as the CEO of the Nabha Foundation.

In addition to his role as executive director, innovation & impact of the National 4-H Council, Mohanlal also serves as the vice chair at the Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation.

Previously, Mohanlal was executive vice president and managing director of the International Youth Foundation (IYF), based in Baltimore, Maryland. IYF was founded through the largest grant ever made by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Mohanlal joined IYF's founder as the first professional staff member and was instrumental in building the organization from a start-up to one of the most well-recognized youth-serving organizations in the world. Mohanlal led the Global Partner Network and was instrumental in IYF's establishment of a network of affiliate youth-centered foundations in over 60 countries. He was part of the leadership team that established innovative corporate and civil society partnerships with companies such as Lucent Technologies, Nike, and Nokia.

After the end of the Kosovo War, Mohanlal partnered with President Martti Ahtissari of Finland, who had successfully mediated the end to that war, to establish the first Balkan-wide organization, the Balkans Children and Youth Foundation. Some of the new foundations that Mohanlal facilitated in establishing, such as the German Children and Youth Foundation, the Polish Children and Youth Foundation, the Children of Slovakia Foundation, and Children and Youth Foundation of the Philippines are today the leading foundations working with young people in those countries. Mohanlal also set up the first international partnerships for youth development in Israel, Jordan, and Palestine. Mohanlal assembled a coalition of youth organizations to lead one of the largest youth-related HIV/AIDS-prevention programs in Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Prior to that, Mohanlal served as executive vice president for programs and operations; vice president for Asia and the Pacific, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean; and director for Northern and Western Europe with AFS Intercultural Programs.
