Affinity Group Meetings

The following Affinity Groups will meet in conjunction with AACSB's 2019 Deans Conference in Vancouver, Canada.  Please check back for updates.

ATTENTION: There is no pre-registration necessary to attend Affinity Group meetings. Seating at Affinity Group meetings is available on a first come, first served basis. Registration is free unless otherwise noted. PLEASE NOTE: Affinity Group dinners DO require pre-registration. The links to register for those are provided below.

New Deans Learning Community Affinity Group Meeting

  8:00am - 10:00am

Join the New Deans Learning Community Affinity Group for a pre-conference learning opportunity. The New Deans Learning Community consists of academic deans in serving their initial three years as a full time dean. This meeting will focus on the topics of values based leadership as well as fundraising.


Technology in Business Schools Roundtable Affinity Group Meeting

  8:30am - 10:00am

Join the Technology in Business Schools Roundtable Affinity Group for a pre-conference learning opportunity. Members of the Technology in Business Schools Roundtable Affinity Group (TBSR) are in a technology leadership position within their business or management school, or are the central IT leader responsible for their institution's business or management school.


MBA for Working Professionals Affinity Group Meeting

  9:00am - 10:30am

This session is geared to understanding how the buyer renaissance fueled by changes in the digital world and technological advances has changed how prospective students want to learn about programs. We will begin the session by profiling how one college changed its marketing approach in a way that elevated the school’s brand equity and accelerated its graduate enrollment results.  This will be followed by a discussion of recent industry trends and strategies that are being shown to drive significant prospective student engagement across the enrollment journey. Benchmarking statistics will be provided throughout the session so that participants can judge the success or failure of their own strategies relative to within-industry peers.  

Participants will receive the following takeaways in this session:

1. Understanding of the change nature of marketing MBA and MS programs to Rebellious Buyers

2. Step-by-step approach to integrate new marketing techniques into your program

3. Examples with data metrics to replicate in your marketing program


Digital Transformation Affinity Group Meeting

  10:30am - 12:30pm

Join the Digital Transformation Affinity Group for a pre-conference learning opportunity. The digital transformation of business through the advent of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics is widely expected to be a significant disruptor. Schools of Business shall lead this effort due to their ability to build innovative partnership with businesses, interdisciplinary connections and experience in preparing global business leaders. This learning community acts as the chief mechanism to convene business and academic leaders interested in sharing and co-creating knowledge.


Women Administrators in Management Education Affinity Group Meeting

  10:30am - 12:30pm

The WAME meeting will focus on a theme of significant interest to WAME members – Resilience in Leadership – What is it and how do we build it? The session will be organized as a peer mentoring workshop in which we can work in small facilitated groups to learn from each other on how we can strengthen our resilience as leaders to come back stronger from setbacks or crises or simply cultivate the resilience to manage the everyday pressures and demands of our jobs while sustaining the energy, creativity, and well-being to lead our schools forward. During the final half hour we will meet with the Business Accreditation Task Force to discuss diversity and inclusion.The WAME Affinity Group includes female deans, associate deans, assistant deans, program directors, center directors, and academic department chairs.


Metropolitan Business Schools Affinity Group Meeting

  1:00pm - 2:30pm

The Metropolitan Business Schools Affinity Group includes representatives from institutions located in or near the urban center of a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) with a population of at least 250,000. This meeting will begin with a discussion led by a Business Accreditation Task Force (BATF) member focusing on curriculum. Following the presentation the group will dive deeper into the topic of experiential learning to gain insights from meeting attendees on their challenges and successes in this area.


Diversity and Inclusion Network Affinity Group Meeting

  2:30pm - 3:30pm

Join the Diversity and Inclusion Network Affinity Group for a pre-conference learning opportunity. The mission of the Diversity and Inclusion Network is to advocate for diversity and inclusion in academia and schools of business around the world. The network will serve as a forum for management educators to discuss issues and concerns regarding diversity and inclusion at all levels in schools of business. The network will work with the leadership of AACSB to develop effective and comprehensive strategies to support the development of inclusive practices that affirm different perspectives and life experiences. The network will serve as a resource to school deans and faculty through meaningful dialogue and innovative strategic thinking as they seek to affect change in their organizations.


Small Schools Network Affinity Group Meeting

  2:00pm - 3:30pm

The Small Schools Network Affinity Group includes representatives from schools with 35 or fewer full-time faculty. This meeting will begin with a presentation from a member of The Business Accreditation Task Force (BATF) focusing on the topic of faculty sufficiency and faculty qualifications. The BATF presentation will support the following discussion on Innovative Ways to Support Quality Faculty in Small Schools. Seating for affinity group meetings is on a first come first serve basis.


European Affinity Group Networking Dinner – Sold Out

  7:30pm
