This seminar will take place at Boston University Questrom School of Business in Boston, Massachusetts. This seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. on October 19 and conclude at 1:45 p.m. on October 20.

Congratulations on your new associate or assistant dean position! Are you asking yourself “Now what?” Do you have more questions than answers?

Maximize your transition to associate dean through networking with other new associate deans and exploring topics that are essential to the administrative role. Create a personal vision and action plan and learn to navigate common administrative challenges through group interactions, breakout sessions, and expert facilitation.

Learn how to motivate people, prioritize and delegate tasks, navigate politics, and deal with adversity while maintaining your and your school’s integrity and achieving balance between the needs of the dean, students, faculty, and yourself.

Through group discussions, take an in-depth look into the role and responsibilities of the associate dean. Facilitators and panelists with extensive administrative leadership experience will provide unique insights into the challenges new associate deans face as well as the resources and methods to handle them.

Facilitators

Morris Kalliny, Rowan University

Morris A. Kalliny holds a Ph.D. in International Business and Marketing from The University of Texas-RGV. He is currently the Interim Dean of the Rohrer College of Business and Professor of Marketing at Rowan University. Dr. Kalliny held various academic positions, including a faculty and programs director (in lieu of Department Chair) at Missouri University of Science and Technology, a faculty member at Saint Louis University and an Associate Dean and Interim Department Chair at Eastern Washington University. Professor Kalliny has taught marketing and international business courses at the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. levels. He has also been active with AACSB where he has held several 2-day effective teaching seminars and spoke at various AACSB events. Dr. Kalliny was a frequent guest on various media outlets such as TV, Radio, Newspapers, etc. during the Arab Spring. Dr. Kalliny has been honored with numerous research, teaching, service and advising awards, including Faculty Excellence Award (the highest award bestowed upon faculty at Missouri University of Science and Technology), The Nokyoon Kwak Faculty Research Award at Saint Louis University, Best Professor of the Year for the Executive Master of International Business from The Boeing Institute of International Business at Saint Louis University, and Outstanding Teaching Award at Missouri University of Science and Technology to name a few. His research efforts focusing on cross-cultural marketing, media, and the Arab region has resulted in more than 80 refereed journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings, and an edited book. His research appeared in various academic journals such as the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Journal of Current Issue and Research in Advertising, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Thunderbird International Business Review, Journal of Global Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Political Marketing, Multinational Business Review, Journal of Marketing Communications, and (DATABASE) Database for Advances in Information System amongst others.

 

Natasha VeltriNatasha Veltri, The University of Tampa

Natasha Veltri serves as the Associate Dean of the Sykes College of Business and Professor of Information & Technology Management at The University of Tampa. In her Associate Dean role Natasha leads the academic services for undergraduate business students and assists the dean in the implementation of the college strategic plan. She also supports the dean in the maintenance of AACSB accreditation: she has collaborated on the college’s previous CIR report and is responsible for assembling documentation for the next one. She holds a B.S. in Financial Management from Udmurt State University in Russia, and an MBA and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Central Florida. He research interests include digitally-enabled social media and collaboration, IT sourcing and governance, human-computer interaction and women representation in science, technology, engineering and math.
