Management Education Capacity Building with Direct Foreign Assistance

The continuing spread of access to management education is one of the most important factors in the ongoing process of globalization, as it affects business schools. Over the past several decades, the ability of business schools in some parts of the world to contribute to the development of quality management education in other parts of the world has contributed substantially to opportunities for people in underserved areas to receive such education.

Capacity-building assistance can take many forms. In some cases, an institution in one country may aid an institution in another country in the development of curricula or delivery methods for one or more degree programs. In others, a school will offer faculty development assistance to schools in countries where doctoral business educational opportunities are sparse or even unavailable. In still other cases, business schools have helped to found entirely new institutions, enhancing access to quality management education in places where previously there were few to no such options.

AACSB International has gathered a number of examples of cross-border management education capacity building activities in the lists below. These lists provide known instances of such activities, though they are certainly not, nor intended to be, all-inclusive. Levels of support provided by the foreign supporting institutions vary widely. If your institution’s activities are not included, please email research@aacsb.edu.
