Standard 2: Mission
Appropriateness. The school’s mission statement is appropriate to higher
education for management and consonant with the mission of any institution of
which the school is a part. The mission includes the production of intellectual
contributions that advance the knowledge and practice of business and
management.
Basis for Judgment:
- The mission statement
encourages learning experiences appropriate for collegiate management
students and that positively affect students’ development as managers and
professionals.
- The mission statement
includes a description of the school's emphases regarding intellectual
contributions of faculty members.
- The portfolio of
intellectual contributions reflects the mission and includes contributions
from a substantial cross-section of the faculty in each discipline.
- The mission statement of
the school supports the mission of any larger institution of which it is a
part.

- Describe the
appropriateness of the mission statement for collegiate management students,
and discuss how it positively affects their development as managers and
professionals.

To say that the mission
statement is "appropriate to higher education for management" is a subjective
statement regarding the school's intent. It implies a professional judgment
about both higher education and management education.
