Department of Justice
The United States Department of Justice enforces federal law and defends national
interests according to the law. It ensures public safety against threats foreign
and domestic; provides Federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime;
seeks just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; administers and
enforces the Nation's immigration laws fairly; and ensures fair
and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.

Federal Trade Commission
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) ensures that markets in the United States are
efficient and free of restrictions that harm consumers. It enforces
federal consumer protection laws that prevent fraud, deception and unfair
business practices. The commission also enforces federal antitrust laws that
prohibit anticompetitive mergers and other business practices that restrict
competition and harm consumers. Whether combating telemarketing fraud, Internet
scams or price-fixing schemes, the FTC’s primary mission is to protect
consumers.
