NEWSLINE - Winter 2001
Member Participation in AACSB Surveys Exceeds
Expectations: Reports to be Released Throughout Spring Term
An enthusiastic response to the AACSB 2000 - 2001
Business School Questionnaire will yield substantial benefits for AACSB members
this year. More than 350 AACSB member business schools already have completed
the 2000 - 2001 Business School Questionnaire, which was designed to collect
data for the initial phase of the new AACSB Performance Indicators Project. Data
covering business school characteristics, mission, finances, faculty, staff,
students and credit hour coverage now are being analyzed.
Member business schools that completed the
Business School Questionnaire will have online access to create and purchase
custom reports, which provide detailed statistical information for comparison
groups selected by the customer. The first two custom reports released by AACSB
utilize the database to provide detailed information comparing the customer's
school with the selected comparison group in the areas of faculty and staff
(size, gender, tenure status, race/ethnicity, credentials, support, coverage of
credit hours and salaries) and students (enrollment by program types,
full-time/part-time, gender, race/ethnicity, degrees awarded, admissions
policies). A series of aggregate statistical, trend analysis and effective
practices reports also will be released to all members and the public over the
next several months.
The goal of the AACSB Performance Indicators
Project is to build the most comprehensive and highest quality business school
database and use it to provide statistical information to assist members with
planning and continuous improvement, facilitate decision-making by employers and
prospective students and, eventually, provide support for accreditation
activities. Although currently offered only to members based in the U.S., a
newly appointed International Advisory Council is assisting AACSB in developing
strategies for expanding the services to members around the globe. The Council
is comprised of management education leaders representing AACSB member schools
worldwide.
All AACSB information reports are available at
the AACSB Data and Information Services Web site (www.aacsb.edu/knowledgeservices).
A valid User ID and Password are required to create and purchase custom reports.
The AACSB Data and Information Services Web site also provides information about
AACSB surveys, sample reports and regular updates about the Performance
Indicators Project.
