AICPA Calls for Nominations for its Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is looking for potential recipients for its Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award. The award is designed to recognize a full-time college accounting educator for their excellence in teaching and national prominence in the accounting profession. The dealine for nominations is February 1, 2010. Submit Your Nomination


New Programs and Collaborations

Babson College Launches its First Global Master’s Degree Program
Massachusetts, USA—The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business has recently launched its new Global Entrepreneurship Program (GEP). The program will be offered by three institutions—the EMYLON Business School (France), Zhejiang University’s School of Management (China), and Babson College (USA). Students will begin the program in France, continue their studies in China, and complete their degree in the U.S. The program will last 12-months and award a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Global Entrepreneurship.

Dartmouth College Starts an Accelerated MBA
New Hampshire, USA—The school has created an accelerated MBA program for its doctoral students. The program will allow recent Ph.D. graduates to enroll as business students. Some of the already completed doctoral-level courses will count as MBA electives; shortening the time to complete an MBA by one term. Read More

DePaul University Opens a New School for Hospitality Leadership
Illinois, USA—The school will be located at the College of Commerce and was established from a 7.5 million USD gift from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation (a foundation dedicated to preparing students for management roles at hotels, restaurants, and other related venues).

Grenoble Ecole de Management Launches New Ph.D. in Business Administration
After 15 years of delivering a DBA program, the school launched its full doctoral program in business administration. The program will have three concentrations: marketing, organizational theory and human resources management, and strategy and management of innovation. The school will develop additional concentrations in the coming years.

Pace University Starts New Undergraduate Honors Program and Redesigns its MBA
New York, USA—The Lubin School of Business has launched its Business Honors Program (BHP) to provide top undergraduate business students with a more challenging and rewarding experience. The honor students will have an enhanced curriculum that includes cross-disciplinary learning communities, international study and community-based leadership components, and a year-long honors thesis sequence. The school’s MBA program has also been completely redesigned. The school did a two-year review of market demands for MBAs in order to reengineer the program’s curriculum. These changes include several newly designed core classes and more options for students to focus on specific disciplines and electives. Read More

Rice University’s Business School Launches its First Ph.D. Program and Weekend MBA
Texas, USA—The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business will offer its first doctoral program beginning in the fall of 2010. The program will include concentrations in accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, and strategy. Additionally, the school has launched a second weekend MBA program for young professionals with less work experience. The program, which started in August, alternates weekends on Friday evenings and all day Saturday.

Temple University Starts an Online MBA
Pennsylvania, USA—The Fox School of Business has launched its inaugural online MBA program. Students will connect with each other and their professors through video conferencing and other online tools. “This model we have built is the model for the future,” said Fox Dean M. Moshe Porat. The program will take two years to complete. Read More

The University of Reading Begins New Customer Management Safari Programme
Berkshire, United Kingdom—The Henley Business School recently launched a new customer management programme as part of its current executive education curriculum. The program is for business leaders who want to "re-address the way their organisation responds to and engages with their customers." Read More



Awards and Gifts

Thunderbird School of Global Management Receives 2 Million USD
Arizona, USA—Miriam Hinrichs made a 2 million USD pledge to the school to honor her husband’s 70th birthday in November of 2011. The gift will be used to restore the campus’ historic air control tower into a multi-purpose student center that will qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.

University of Dallas College of Business Welcomes Scholarship Dollars
Texas, USA—The college recently received 100,000 USD for scholarships from the LAGRANT Foundation (TLF). The scholarships were awarded to 15 minority students that are pursuing degrees in advertising, marketing, and public relations. Since its foundation, LAGRANT has awarded students with nearly 1 million USD in scholarships throughout the United States.

Paris, France—The school is now called ESCP Europe.

Louisiana State University in Shreveport’s Business School Updates its Name
Louisiana, USA—The school formally known as the College of Business Administration is now the College of Business, Education, and Human Development.

Rice University Business School Alters its Name
Texas, USA—The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management has changed its name to the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business.

Victoria Institute—VISBS / Victoria University Simplifies its Name
Switzerland—The school is now Victoria University, Switzerland
