University of Hawaii at Manoa Welcomes Support for New
Professorship
(Hawaii, USA). The Shidler College of Business at the University
of Hawaii Manoa recently was provided with a 250,000 USD gift from Deloitte &
Touche, LLP to help support a new distinguished professorship. The gift was
matched by the Shidler Matching Funds, bringing the total to 500,000 USD. The
funds will establish the Lloyd Fujie/Deloitte Foundation Distinguished
Accounting Professorship Endowment Fund at the university.
The professorship was established in memory of Lloyd Fujie.
Lloyd graduated from the Shidler College of Business and was a former managing
partner for Deloitte & Touche’s Honolulu, Hawaii office. The funds also are
intended to assist the college in recruiting and retaining faculty of
high-caliber in the field of accounting.
Paul Higo, managing partner for Deloitte & Touche LLP, said, “I
want to thank our people, clients and the business community for strongly
supporting us with this endowment,” Higo continued. “Together we hope we can
enhance the quality of accounting and business education at the Shidler College
of Business for years to come. We had Deloitte professionals from all over the
U.S. contributing to this endowment and supporting us in this effort.”
