Arizona State University Professor Appointed Fulbright Senior
Specialist
(Arizona, USA). Ajay Vinze, the Earl and Gladys Davis
Distinguished Professor and director of the W.P. Carey MBA Executive Program at
the W.P. Carey School of Business was recently appointed as a Fulbright Senior
Specialist for his work in global academic projects. The Fulbright program
promotes the participation of U.S. scholars and professionals to undertake
collaborative projects with their counterparts in post-secondary academic
institutions in other countries. The objective of the program is to create links
between the U.S. and non-U.S. academic institutions. Vinze’s first appointment
will be a five-year term with the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina to
assist in the advancement of technology to achieve world standards.
University of Florida Awarded for Marketing Research
(Florida, USA). Joseph W. Alba, a University of Florida
distinguished professor of marketing and chair of the Department of Marketing,
was awarded with the Paul D. Converse Award for his findings and paper entitled,
“Dimensions of Consumer Expertise,” which can be seen in the Journal of Consumer
Research. The Converse Award is considered one of the highest honors in the
field of marketing research and its winners are referred to by Forbes as part of
the “Marketing Hall of Fame.”
Alba also has won other awards for his contributions to
marketing. He has previously received the Journal of Marketing MSI/Paul Root
Award, the AMA Louis Stern Award, and the Journal of Consumer Research
Outstanding Article Award twice.
San Diego State University Professors Receives Honors
(California,
USA). College of Business Administration assistant management professor, Martina
Musteen recently was honored with the Olympus 2008 Emerging Educational Leader
Award. Musteen was awarded for her dynamic teaching approach and the
motivational classroom environments she creates. She is the developer of a
popular international entrepreneurship course that she currently teaches for
those seeking to become global entrepreneurs. Musteen was nominated by one of
her students and says, “to be honored for doing something that I love to do is
incredibly gratifying.”
The award is part of an on-going program that seeks out
individuals who have demonstrated initiative thinking in higher education.
University of Stellenbosch Business School Receives A-Rating
in Survey
(South Africa). The University of Stellenbosch was one of two
schools in Africa to receive an A-rating as a “universal business school with
major international influence” in the EDUNIVERSAL Official Selection. The rating
was determined by a voting of business school deans regarding schools in the
Selection. The deans were asked one question, “which business school(s) would
you recommend?” One thousand deans participated and the survey was conducted
over a period of several months.
