ASIA – Management Education’s New Frontier

In May 2007, AACSB International held its World Class Practices in Management Education Asia Conference in Beijing, China on the campus of host Tsinghua University – mainland China’s first AACSB-accredited business school. It was a great conference and was well-attended by mostly Asian deans. What struck me most about the delegate response was that there was a genuine air of expectation of AACSB’s emerging leadership in Asia. There was only one problem – AACSB had no plans for Asia beyond responsive accreditation assistance and a few educational programs. So, we set out to develop a conceptual plan for AACSB in Asia and presented it to the Board In January 2008. [more]

Collegiate Institutions Earn Business and Accounting Accreditation
Lancaster University (United Kingdom) has achieved initial business accreditation from AACSB International. Additionally, 27 institutions maintained their business accreditation and 8 institutions maintained their accounting accreditation. [more]

AACSB’s maintenance of accreditation process, still relatively new for many of us, elevates three aspects of our schools while maintaining an allegiance to all of the accreditation standards. This relatively new, streamlined process was a welcome change, and it presents some opportunities for deans to examine the role of faculty governance, particularly as it relates to accreditation maintenance.
