Associate Deans Affinity Group

Membership

Membership in the Associate Deans Affinity Group will consist of associate deans, and those assistant deans with faculty appointments from AACSB-accredited institutions and those member institutions with approved accreditation eligibility applications (as confirmed by the institution). Other individuals may apply for inclusion in the group; the co-chairs of the group will review requests and make final decisions concerning membership.

Activities

The Associate Deans Affinity Group is enhanced by the value of the network and the value of discussions based on topics of like interest. The initial topics of interest are as follows:

Curriculum

  • AACSB record keeping (pertaining to accreditation)
  • Assurance of learning/maintenance of accreditation
  • Career development
  • Lessons for new associate deans
  • Strategic issues for business schools
  • Marketing and recruiting students and faculty
  • Business school rankings
  • AACSB white paper updates
  • Member personal development opportunities
  • Information Dissemination

The group will communicate via an AACSB-hosted listserv and web site. Group meetings and networking opportunities will occur at various AACSB events.

Leadership/Communicators

The following co-chairs have been identified:
John Mooney, Associate Dean, Academic Programs, Pepperdine University
Mario Reyes, Associate Dean, University of Idaho

The group will maintain a minimum of two co-chairs to ensure effective succession planning. The co-chairs may, at times, also seek the input of a steering committee.
