Affinity Groups
Private U.S. Research Universities
Objectives
- Develop strategies to advocate for private U.S. research universities with the goal of influencing the media, public opinion and corporations about the value
of managerial education from group member schools
- Influence the public on why we support research within the business school
- Share ideas of the best way of reaching our students and alumni to tell our story
- Sharing ideas and best practices among members of the affinity group
- Networking among research oriented private universities in the U.S.
Membership
Business schools participating in this group will be represented by the dean. Member institutions will generally have all or most of
the following characteristics:
- Operating budget of 25 million USD or higher
- Endowment of 50 million USD or higher
- Full-time faculty of 40 or more
- Host a wide breadth/array of graduate programs (e.g., FT MBA, PT MBA, Executive MBA, Specialized Master’s, Doctoral)
- Carnegie classification: Doctoral/Research University – Extensive (2000)*
- Operate as a private university in the United States
- Hold AACSB accreditation
Other schools may be admitted as approved by current group members.
*The group will make appropriate amendments to reflect the 2005 Carnegie classifications once those classifications are in wide use by member schools.
