Jerry Trapnell Receives the FSA / Joseph A. Silvoso Faculty Merit Award
Tampa, FL, USA (February 14, 2011) — AACSB International
is proud to announce that Jerry Trapnell, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer, has received the 2011 Federation of Schools of Accountancy–Joseph A. Silvoso Faculty Merit Award.
As the highest award given by the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA), the Silvoso Award honors an outstanding contribution by a
faculty member in a post-baccalaureate professional program of an FSA member school.
“Jerry has been a stalwart supporter of high-quality accounting education for many years. His efforts at AACSB have been especially
instrumental in providing thought leadership to the academic community, and this has raised the bar for countless accounting programs,
professors, and students,” said Larry Walther, president of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy, and
professor and head of the School of Accountancy at Utah State University. “As a result, the quality of the accounting profession, and
public trust in the profession, has been quietly served by Jerry’s dedication to his role in support of accounting education. The FSA
is pleased to recognize Jerry with this much deserved award.”
The award was presented at the Accounting Program’s Leadership Group / FSA 2011 Annual Luncheon in Savannah, Georgia, and the FSA’s
supporting associate, KPMG LLP, provided funding for the award. Composed of more than 200 accredited graduate accounting programs and
major professional associations, the Federation’s mission is to encourage and promote the development of high-quality accredited programs
and to be a leading advocate of such programs.
“Jerry Trapnell is a pioneer in global management and accounting education, and this recognition by the greatest schools of
accounting in the world is well earned and wisely bestowed,” said John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB
International.
