The University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business: A Contributor to Higher Education for Hundreds of Years

Established in 1669, the University of Zagreb is not only the oldest Croatian university, it is also the oldest university in South East Europe. Originally managed by the Jesuits, in 1773 the university came under control of Pope Clement XIV. At that time, the university had approximately 200 students. Today, the university has grown immensely and is now home to over 50,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The university is also no stranger to business education. In 1920, the Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb was founded. The Faculty has significantly developed over the years. It is currently the largest provider of the higher business and economics education in the region. The Faculty also provides both undergraduate and graduate-level degrees (including doctoral) in a variety of business and economic concentrations; including a bachelor’s degree in business study taught fully in English.

Although Zagreb is surrounded by traditions, its award-winning e-learning program is just one of the examples of how the school has continued its service to students throughout the decades. The school is also very successful and active in international projects. It is in tune with the business sector, but also with social networking, providing students with a variety of ways to connect. Additionally, the school has opened its doors to creating a welcoming environment for international students and teaching staff.
