New Deans Learning Council Affinity Group Meeting
9:00am - 11:00am

The New Deans Learning Community Affinity Group is comprised of academic deans serving within their initial three years as a full-time dean. New deans frequently assume leadership roles where review of the school’s mission and strategic plan become top priorities, whether this is in anticipation of an accreditation review or other circumstances. Common challenges in this context are determination of how standards for “quality publications” relate to the distinct mission of individual schools and the measure of impact that the school’s faculty contribute to the school, community and beyond. During the NDLC meeting in Las Vegas, new deans will share their experiences in striking the appropriate balance for intellectual contributions across the spectrum of faculty qualifications to support the individual school mission as well as defining, describing and contextualizing impact related to mission.


Entrepreneurship Programs Affinity Group Meeting
9:30am - 11:30am

While universities typically are not allowed to invest/take equity in undergraduate student start-ups, our panel will focus on alternative ways that universities and business schools in particular, can provide resources that include access to financing, mentors, networks, vendors, equipment, and more. Audience participants are encouraged to share, at the time of the meeting and through the online discussion group, examples from their universities and include both the good and not so good efforts aimed at supporting early stage student startups.


Technology in Business Schools Roundtable Affinity Group Meeting
10:00am - 11:30am

Please join us for a Technology in Business Schools Roundtable (TBSr) Affinity Group Meeting. Three of our senior members will explain the benefits of membership and participation. TBSr is an AACSB Affinity Group made up of the CIO, CTOs and Directors of IT from over 100 AACSB-accredited business schools. Just about all the professional IT experience you ever wanted is available to you all for about $100 per year. As a group TBSr has a wealth of experience in IT issues that face business schools.


Women Administrators in Management Education Affinity Group Meeting
12:00pm - 2:00pm

Friend-raising, fundraising, and building engagement opportunities is a key skill set for all deans. Understanding and leveraging the continuum of engagement is particularly important at a time when business schools often “compete” with the university’s “General Fund.” How do we navigate our needs as business schools while also serving the greater good of the institution overall? What are best practices for working with alumni? Engaging with faculty? Partnering with the Development office? Seeking expertise with consultants? A moderated panel will kick off the workshop with ample time for Q&A and a chance for deans to share their own winning strategies.


Responsible Management Education Affinity Group Meeting
12:30pm - 3:00pm

Please join the RME Affinity Group to learn about PRME initiatives at Saint Joseph's University and to hear updates on the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative. Following these presentations, the floor will be opened for discussion on RME activities from the dean’s perspective.


Diversity and Inclusion Network Affinity Group Meeting
1:00pm - 3:00pm

Please join the Diversity & Inclusion Network Affinity Group (formerly the Minorities Affinity Group) for their first official meeting. Co-chairs will address their group structure and share their newly developed mission and vision statements. Participants will be invited to share in a brainstorming session to develop strategic initiatives for the next three years, as well as to share best practices around diversity and inclusion initiatives.


Small Schools Network Affinity Group Meeting
1:30pm - 3:30pm

A Small Schools Guide to Advisory Board Success: Developing a strong advisory board is a key to success for any dean. The SSNet will be sharing best practices and discussing challenges with advisory boards unique to smaller schools. Results from our fall survey on current advisory board practices will be presented, and the interactive discussion will be focused on questions submitted by members. Join us for this important conversation and take away impactful strategies you can put to work immediately.
