Assurance of Learning—Around the World
Learn the Basics The introductory Assessment Seminar provides a comprehensive overview of assessment, and explores how the practices and concepts of assessment relate to AACSB accreditation. In this overview of the assessment process, participants explore AACSB expectations regarding assessment of student learning, plus examples of what business schools are doing to meet them. Upcoming offerings of the Assessment Seminar include February 23–24 in Lima, Peru; March 6–7 in New York, New York (prior to the Assessment Conference); May 3–4 in Tampa, Florida; and May 10–11 in Paris, France (held immediately prior to the Applied Assessment Seminar). Build and Implement Your Program For those who have taken the Assessment Seminar or Assurance of Learning Seminar, the Applied Assessment Seminar is the next important step. Participants review best assessment practices, discuss the elements of an assessment program, learn how to incorporate data outcomes back into the curriculum, and explore implementation issues (and how to avoid them). Offerings of this seminar take place January 28–29, 2010 and June 16–17, 2010 in Tampa, Florida; March 6–7, 2010 in New York, New York (prior to the Assessment Conference); and May 12–13 in Paris, France (held immediately after the Assessment Seminar). Networking and Assessment in Action With all concurrent sessions presented by schools who have implemented successful assurance of learning programs, the Assessment Conference is ideal for networking and idea-sharing with schools from around the world. Plenary sessions held by assessment experts such as Dr. Tom Angelo (La Trobe University, author of Classroom Assessment Techniques: A Handbook for College Teachers), combined with a diverse representation of business schools make this event fundamental to establishing or maintaining superior assessment processes. The Assessment Conference takes place March 7–9, 2010, in New York, New York. Assessment Lessons at Many AACSB Events Assurance of learning topics are also explored to some degree at many multi-topic AACSB conferences and seminars: visit www.aacsb.edu/event to access the 2009–2010 Professional Development Schedule and find all assessment-related events. |
