About this Report
Each year, AACSB International collects data from business schools on faculty and administrator salaries. In the 2009–10 Salary Survey Report, data represents global figures on 30,971 business school faculty members and 5,924 administrators in 28 disciplines.
Salary Data at a Glance
Worldwide...
• On average, business school professors at publically accredited institutions receive 129,300 USD annually.
• New hires at the professor level earn more per year than those that have been with the institution longer.
In the United States...
• Average US salaries for full-time, 9-month faculty across all ranks and disciplines has increased from 109,212 to 111,084 USD (1.7% increase over last year).
• The largest increases in salary (5.8%) were in the rank of assistant professor in accounting/taxation, while other areas remained steady or declined.
• The portion of newly hired full-time faculty decreased from 9.3% to 6.7% last year.
• Hiring has decreased from 9.6% to 5.6% in information systems, while hiring in accounting has increased from 17.4% to 18%.
• New doctorates in finance, banking, real estate, and insurance received the highest increases in starting salaries.
