Franchised/Validated and Joint/Dual-Degree Programs

  • Relevant legal structure: The Ministry of Education (MEC) has sole authority to recognize degree programs in Brazil, but HEIs are afforded sufficient autonomy under the law as to be able to enter into whatever partnerships they deem appropriate, particularly as they may be facilitated by CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education).
