Strategic Deployment of Qualified Faculty: An AACSB Perspective

This interactive, web-based session provides an AACSB perspective on the deployment of qualified faculty with an emphasis on professionally qualified (PQ) faculty. Starting with a review of the link between a school's mission and its processes for faculty management, you will learn practical approaches focused on strategic deployment of faculty. The advantages and challenges of deploying PQ faculty will be highlighted, as will AACSB accreditation standards that concentrate on faculty qualifications.

Who Should Attend:
Deans, administrators, and faculty of AACSB member schools with responsibility for the school's strategic direction, faculty development and management.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain an understanding of the relationship between a school's mission and the deployment of qualified faculty. The emphasis will be on PQ faculty; however the presenters will also reference AQ faculty during the presentation.
  • Develop a deeper knowledge of AACSB accreditation standards in relation to PQ faculty.
  • Review factors to consider when seeking an appropriate balance between AQ and PQ faculty.
  • Learn how to evaluate and document faculty qualifications consistent with the school's mission, including initial and maintenance of AQ/PQ status.
  • Discuss ways of effectively utilizing PQ faculty to enhance the school's mission on campus and within the broader community.
  • Clarify some of the frequently asked questions with regard to the deployment of AQ and PQ faculty.

Facilitators:
Ron Shiffler, dean, College of Business Administration & interim dean, College of Information Technology at Georgia Southern University
Jerry E. Trapnell, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer, AACSB International
