The seminar will begin with breakfast on Saturday, April 28th at 7:30 a.m. and end on Sunday,
April 29th at 3:30 p.m.

Please note, this seminar is preceding the AACSB ICAM 2012 (International Conference & Annual Meeting). ICAM will take place April 29–May 1, 2012. The Department Chairs Seminar and ICAM require separate registrations and individual fees.

Continuous improvement within a business school requires a commitment to establishing a sense of community within a school's learning environment. For the department chair, the challenge is to foster productive change while still being able to support and satisfy the faculty and student needs. This seminar explores ways to accomplish change that incorporates the talents of new and diverse faculty while still valuing mid-career and senior faculty. It also explores ways to increase teaching effectiveness, improve productivity, and resolve conflict.

Department Chairs – current and future, deans, those involved with faculty development

Learning Outcomes:

  • Take away practical strategies for team building with your faculty and your dean.
  • Understand and manage the roles and responsibilities of being a department chair and leading change that can transform your department.
  • Learn to identify forces for and against change and develop strategies to reduce resistance to change, while maintaining support of ongoing, successful programs.
  • Acquire strategies to motivate faculty and improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Determine how to revitalize faculty and increase student learning through industry partnering.

Each delegate is responsible for making his or her own hotel reservation. The cost of the hotel room is not included in the registration fee. Any guestroom changes, cancellations, etc., are the delegate’s responsibility and must be made directly with the hotel.

A room block is being held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront for AACSB International participants. Preferred room rate is 239USD per night, single or double occupancy, plus tax. When making reservations, please ask for the AACSB block to receive the preferred room rate.

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront must be contacted no later than March 28, 2012 to receive the group discount room rate. Sleeping rooms are based on availability and may sell out prior to the cutoff date.

TRANSPORTATION FACTS
The San Diego International – Lindbergh Field Airport is approximately 3 miles from the hotel. The estimated taxi fare is 18 USD one way. .
