Otis
W. Baskin is Professor of Management at The George L. Graziadio School of
Business and Management at Pepperdine University where he served as dean from
1995-2001. His academic career spans more than 25 years, including; Dean of the
Fogelman College of Business and Economics at The University of Memphis;
Director of the School or Management at Arizona State University, West Campus;
and Coordinator of the Management Faculty at the University of Houston – Clear
Lake. Dr. Baskin has been active in AACSB International since 1980 serving on
several committees and peer review teams. Most recently he served as a member of
the Accreditation Coordinating Committee, and Special Advisor to the President
and CEO from 2002-2004.
Dr. Baskin has been very active in international
business education developing more than 20 strategic partnerships with business
schools in Asia, Europe and Latin America for institutions where he has served
as Dean. He has been also a visiting faculty member at ITESM in Monterrey,
Mexico and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oxford for the Hilary
Term, 1994.
Dr. Baskin has served as an advisor to management
for public and private organizations in the United States, Asia, Europe and
Latin America including China National Petroleum Company, the Bulgarian Ministry
of Trade, and The Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. He is a frequent
speaker to industry and executive groups including The Conference Board, The
Family Business Network (Europe), and the Global Knowledge Forum (Korea).
Dr. Baskin’s scholarly achievements include
seven books, in addition to numerous academic articles, and published papers.
Baskin is active in the Academy of Management, where he has held several
national offices, and served as a founding member of the editorial board of the Academy
of Management Executive journal. He is currently a member of the national
Board of Directors for Sigma Iota Epsilon, the honor society of the Academy of
Management. In addition, he serves on several corporate and not-for-profit
boards including the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Economic Development
Corporation, the Board of Directors of The Ventura County World Affairs Council,
and the Editorial Review Board of the Family Business Review.
