TREASURED ART COLLECTIONS OF TAMPA BAY
Monday, April 23, 2007
Your
day begins as you cross over Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg. Located on the corporate headquarters campus
of Raymond James Financial, is the spectacular Raymond James
Collection. Tom James,
Chairman and CEO of Raymond James Financial, and his wife Mary own more than 98%
of the 1,800-plus works of art on display. This private collection is one of the largest in the
southeast and includes works by such artists as
Alexander Calder, Mihail Chemiakin, Salvador Dali, Leonardo Nierman, and Andy
Warhol, among others.
From
Raymond James Financial, it will be a short distance to your luncheon location
at BayWalk, an outdoor
shopping complex located in downtown St. Petersburg. Lunch will be at Gratzzi’s offering
northern Italian cuisine. Start
with a fresh garden salad, a choice of Chicken with linguini, Chicken Marsala
with vegetables, or Cannelloni. Complete
your lunch with Tirimasu for dessert. Upon
the conclusion of lunch, guests will be given a short time to explore
the unique shops located at BayWalk.
Situated
on sparkling Bayboro Harbor in downtown St. Petersburg, the Salvador
Dali Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of
works by the late Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali. Collected
by A. Reynolds and Eleanor R. Morse, Dali’s close personal friends and
scholarly collectors since 1942, this collection includes 94 original oils, over
100 watercolors and drawings, plus 1,300 graphics, sculptures, holograms,
objects of art, and photographs.
Your
docent led tour of the Dali Museum will provide you with interesting background
and insight into the genius of Dali’s life and works.
From
the Dali Museum board your motor coach and join your BayArea
Tour Guide as you continue to explore the history of this part of St.
Petersburg. You will not have to travel far to see evidence of the Land Boom
Era. Unique and varied architecture abound as your guide brings history to life.
See such landmarks as the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, the open air Post Office, the
Coliseum, Mirror Lake, and more.
In
addition to the full-day program, conference guests also may attend the two
receptions of AACSB's International Conference and Annual Meeting, scheduled
Sunday, April 22, and Monday, April 23.
