Password Protected Committee Member Resources
Upcoming Meetings
- March 15, 2013, Tampa, Florida, USA
Purpose
The Accounting Accreditation Committee (AAC) oversees applications for Initial Accreditation and
Maintenance of Accreditation for accounting programs. The committee also has responsibility for the oversight of the accounting
PreAccreditation Process for institutions which already hold Business
Accreditation, as well as the review and approval of Accounting Accreditation Standards Alignment Plans forwarded from the PreAccreditation Committee (PAC). The committee ensures
that the Accounting Accreditation Standards are applied consistently, and that
recommendations are equitable across Peer Review Teams and the programs
reviewed.
Structure
The AAC is comprised of a minimum of 10 members and a maximum of 20 members serving staggered terms. A previous member from both the Business Accreditation Committee and
the Candidacy Committee also serve on the committee. The Board Vice Chair-Chair Elect appoints the AAC chair and
members of the committee based on recommendations from members and AACSB Accreditation staff. The chair is usually a lead business school administrator (such as a dean), with a background in accounting or a current or previous accounting program administrator from a school with AACSB Accounting Accreditation. The chair serves two consecutive one-year terms.
Generally, the Committee representatives are members of schools with accounting accreditation. The majority are current or previous administrators of accounting programs; other
members include deans and corporate members.
