Philip Vergauwen is Dean of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. He studied Economics at the KU Leuven and the London School of Economics and obtained his PhD in Leuven. After that he held various positions at the Universities of Leuven, Hasselt, Auckland, Amsterdam and Maastricht. He was previously Dean of the Faculty of Business Economics at Hasselt University. In Maastricht he is Professor of Management Accounting and Control, Director of the International Executive Master of Finance & Control. He previously chaired the University Council as well as the Central Elections office.
According to the selection committee, Vergauwen has an outstanding track record in education, considerable international experience, a clear vision of internationalisation and a solid international network. In addition, he is involved in several projects in the Limburg region such as the Smart Services Hub in Heerlen and Campus Venlo of Maastricht University.
