Summary of Methodology:
Wall
Street Journal/Harris Interactive surveys
corporate recruiters to calculate rankings. The survey measures the
perception of the school and its students, intended future
behavior toward that school, and mass appeal. Each component is weighted equally
to determine the overall rank. Ratings on 20 attributes are weighted by their
relative importance to determine the total perception score. For the supportive behavior score, recruiters are asked about the likelihood of
returning to recruit at the school in the next two years and about the
likelihood of making an offer to a student at the school in the next two years.
In North America, the mass appeal score is based on the total number of
participating recruiters who indicated that they hire from a school. Outside
of North America, the mass appeal score is based on the number of countries in
which recruiters for a school are based. Ranks for each category (national
regional, international) are determined
and averaged to arrive at the current year overall rank.
Multivariate statistical
analysis is conducted to determine clusters of schools that share recruiters. To
determine the final rank, the average of the current and previous year ranks is
calculated for schools remaining the in same cluster. Only current year results
are used for schools that move between clusters or are new participants. More
